Personal Support Program (PSP)
Interwork offers the Personal Support Program (PSP) which bridges short-term crisis services and employment services. If you are on income support it can help you stay connected to the economic and social life of your community.
The program is designed to help people in circumstances which make it difficult to get a job or benefit from employment assistance programs. These may include homelessness, drug and alcohol problems, psychological disorders or domestic violence.
The Personal Support Program offers the following:
- counselling and personal support
- referrals to local community and access services
- practical support
- outreach activities
- assessment to help set goals and plans, monitor progress and work out when participants are ready to move on.
Job Placement, Employment and Training (JPET)
Interwork provides access to the Job Placement, Employment and Training (JPET) program which aims to help students and unemployed young people aged 15 to 21 years who face personal and social barriers that severely limit their capacity to:
- participate socially in the life of their communities
- participate in activities such as education, employment and vocational training
- benefit from employment assistance.
Young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness are the primary focus of the program which helps participants to overcome barriers such as drug and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse or violence and mental health issues.
Indigenous Employment Support Programs
Interwork provides access to employment transition and post-placement support and mentoring for Indigenous employees who are employed on a full, permanent part-time or casual basis.
Through the STEP (South East Structured Training and Employment Project), Count Me In! and A.O.K. (Aboriginal Opportunity Knocks) programs, Interwork works with employers to support Indigenous people to secure and maintain employment.
Types of assistance available through these programs include:
- job placement
- increased hours of employment
